come the crocuses
with different cheerful hues, breaking through the freshly thawed ground, just when I am about to forget that the snow covered land is very much alive with palpable pulses. |

Soon
the magnolias follow, eagerly putting forth their masses of flowers, long
before the leaves are allowed

On
the ground deep in the woods
are the modest and simple trilliums. Quietly hidden, without fragrance, they can be easily missed except for those looking off the main trail. |

Interestingly their beauty is in the grouping of similar kinds. |

The delicate cherry blossoms are at their
height early May, lasting no more than a week or so in
still air. With rain and wind, the pedals may be stripped completely overnight,
covering the surrounding bed with thousands of broken pieces. |
